There are a lot of Chalk Markers out there. I've tested a lot in preparation for my Chalkboard Lettering Workshop. The following is a list of things we used in the class and/or that I recommended!

Arteza Chalk Markers -
These are water based, and wet enough to try your hand at blending if you're into that kind of thing. Great for use on chalkboards, whiteboards, blackboards, car windows, mirrors, glass, etc. This comes in a 16 pack with a great variety of colors. PROS - Lots of colors! Depending on the pack you get, they have bright colors and pastels! And it's a minor thing, but this pack comes with a set of tweezers (to be able to flip the tip). CONS - They only have one width. Although, you can flip the tip to chisel and get a thinner line if needed. |
Loddie Doddie Chalk Markers
These are the BEST, most opaque white I've found. They go on like "buttah." There are a few different color options. Pastels, Brights, Metallics, and Classics. PROS - Not as many color choices as other brands, but they are soooooo sooooo good. These are definitely my staple whites and I also really do love their metallics. CONS - They only have one tip size (6mm), but like the Arteza, you can flip the tip and use the chisel side to get thinner lines. |
Kassa Chalk Markers
Kassa is fun because they have more colors, like NEONS! They also have fine tipped (3mm) Markers, which I do like, a lot. PROS - They have 6mm AND 3mm Markers. And there metallics are decent. CONS - I'm not sure there are really cons, they just aren't my go to Chalk Markers. 🤷🏼♀️ Unless I want neons. Love those neons. |
Versa Chalk Markers
Versa Chalk Markers come in 3 sizes! Fine (3mm), Bold (5mm), and Jumbo (15mm). I've never used the Jumbo, but maybe you have use for it? Versa Chalk Markers come in Classic colors, neons, and metallics. PROS - I like the variety of sizes. I always have at least a few of the 3mm and 5mm in whites for the thickness variation on my boards. And it dries pretty quickly. CONS - Can be difficult to erase. I started using Magic Erasers to avoid the ghosting. I also started prepping my boards before use, which has helped as well. |
